Blue Christmas Service 12/20/2025
A service of comfort and light, creating space to grieve when pain overwhelms.
Music: Mary Dailey
Four Key Points
1. You don't have to seek to minimize or suppress your sorrow in order to fully embrace the hope God gives us at Christmas time
2. That God-given hope is all the more powerful when we receive and hold onto it despite our competing emotions
3. Our current emotions don't have to define us, because we serve a God of healing, hope, and change
4. One of the most powerful truths of Christmas is that our God is the God of Immanuel--"God with us"
Four Reflection Questions
1. What are some of the emotions that you struggle with, that can make it difficult to be joyful at Christmas?
2. When such moments arise--where do you go to find spiritual peace and comfort?
3. How does the Massacre of the Innocents--a difficult narrative in the midst of the Christmas story--help us to further understand how God can work even amidst the most challenging episodes in our own lives?
4. Where may God be showing you hope, peace or comfort during this Christmas season?
