Town Hall meeting: Heart and home fundraiser update
April 26, 2026
What have we achieved since the launch of our campaign in February 2025?
Stained Glass Window Update:
What has been happening with the South facing windows and when do we anticipate reinstallation and completion?
Replacement of Swamp Cooler with Air Conditioning:
In October 2025, the Properties Team connected with Front Range Mechanical Services of Englewood, who evaluated the building and provided recommendations and initial bids for installing systems to cool and better distribute warm air throughout Ficklin Hall, Ayers Parlor, the Sanctuary, and adjacent areas. Their early estimate indicated a need for $80,000–$90,000 to complete the work. After Session approved borrowing against existing restricted funds for amounts not yet raised, the team formally engaged Front Range in February of this year. FPCL authorized the project, and the following work began:
Fundraising Needs for the Remainder of the Campaign:
At a minimum, we will need to raise $25,000 to replace funds borrowed from the FPCL Facilities Reserved Fund to pay for the AC project. Although Front Range has yet to invoice the church for any of the work (and equipment) to date, we anticipate the final bill to exceed the early estimate and come in right around $94,000.
If we hope to continue repairs and restoration of our West facing stained glass windows in calendar 2027, we would likely need an additional $25,000 - $30,000.
In total, an additional $50,000 should complete this work and bring us to the initial goal of raising $250,000 for the entire campaign.
What have we achieved since the launch of our campaign in February 2025?
- We began with a generous base of contributions in early 2025 of $78,000.
- In June of 2025, FPCL received a grant from Colorado Historic of $45,787 to use for the repair and restoration of our South facing sanctuary windows.
- After a September 2025 celebration dinner an additional $80,000 was pledged toward the renovation work.
- In total, we have raised or received pledges for over $203,787 including the base that began the campaign.
- These dollars have been put to good use and have seen us accomplish so much:
- New carpeting and flooring throughout the sanctuary, entrance, balcony stairs, and Chandler Hall.
- Window repair and restoration for the most prominent and historic stained-glass windows in our beautiful sanctuary.
- Complete replacement of our swamp cooler with AC units.
Stained Glass Window Update:
What has been happening with the South facing windows and when do we anticipate reinstallation and completion?
- Removal of the windows happened on January 6th of this year. It was a long process to schedule and begin work once the grant was approved last Summer.
- It has been a long process of replacing some pieces of glass that had been cracked, cleaning and removing the lead paint, in addition to repairing solder joints.
- Colorado Historic has needed to be updated along the way and grant approval of the process which has gone well.
- The final piece that we are waiting on is for a protective panel (5/16” clear heat strengthened laminated glass) to be ordered and installed at the same time we put the windows back in. Unfortunately, gaining alignment and approval on this last piece of material extended our date of completion due to the lead time for ordering. It’s now likely that our windows will be installed the week of May 25th or June 1st.

FPCL authorized the project, and the following work began:
- Installing two Bosch air handlers with paired cold‑climate heat pumps to provide air conditioning and supplemental heat to the Sanctuary, along with new thermostats, refrigerant lines, returns, electrical upgrades, and a *new 400‑amp service required by the City and Xcel.
- The project also includes extensive electrical work—new sub‑feeds, panel replacements, multiple 240v circuits, and power for heat strips and inverters. In addition, a three‑head mini‑split system will be added, with a Fujitsu inverter serving Ayers Parlor and Ficklin Hall through new linesets, pads, stands, controls, and dedicated electrical circuits. All equipment will be installed to current code and coordinated with required engineering and permitting reviews.

Sanctuary flooring COMPLETED!
We’re excited to share a meaningful milestone in our renovation journey—made possible by the generosity of our donors and the tireless dedication of our volunteers.
In March, Chandler Hall saw beautiful new flooring installed in the sanctuary and reception areas. By May, the sanctuary carpeting was fully replaced, and in July the final phase brought fresh carpeting to Chandler Hall’s entryway and the staircase leading to the balcony pews.
This transformation wouldn’t have happened without the incredible coordination and effort of our Properties and Renovation Committee. A heartfelt thank you to each member for turning vision into reality.
